Thread: Ai-Kon 2005 (Winnipeg MB Canada)

I just thought I would update this thread with new information.

The Mascot for the Convention has been chosen, and you can see it here, http://www.ai-kon.org/gallery/Ai-Kon2005/2005_G The winning artist did a excellent job.

No news on when and where, but the organizers have mentioned that the Winnipeg Convention Center is being concidered as a possible location, but it could just be a rumor. Personally, I hope that they have it at the Shereton Hotel again, while the local did have its problems (like the Line to the dealers room going up 2 flights of stairs and wait times being something like 2 hours), Its fun to go to a 24 hour con. But if it is at the Convention center, it will give the convention a more professional feel to it.

Hello Everyone!

I am pleased to announce that we finally have the official date and location for Ai-Kon 2005! So... here goes:

Ai-Kon, Manitoba's largest anime convention, will be held August 12th through 14th 2005 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre!!!

More information will be posted on our website as it becomes available. Pre-registration will be available early next month, and information on accommodations and other events will be available soon. Check our website often for updates:

Now, I know there are some Canadian members, I just hope that there are some members from Manitoba (or from the Dakota's) who can attend this convention. I've gone the last 2 years, and had a blast each time (not to mention all the great swag I bring home every year, you should see my Manga collection).

This is another first for this convetion, Last year, it was the first time the Con was 24hrs, and this is the first time that the Con will be in, well, a Convention center. I've attended several job fares in the center, and its quite large, and the food court is great.

If any AO members do decide to come, we should meet up, I end up spending most of my time in the Games room watching people kill them selves playing DDR, or watching Anime Screenings.
