'Akira' is considered the ULTIMATE anime movie from the 'Golden Age' of anime (mid 1970s to late 1980s). Besides being of the first significant 'Cyberpunk' genre productions, 'Akira' has had significant influence on the style of anime series that we know today (such as 'Ghost in the Shell') 'Akira' is also a influence in the development of 'The Matrix' movie series as well. Any serious Anime Fan must see the movie, as all the other serious Anime Fans will have allready seen it...
yeah what he said....oh and lots of anime violence and swearing.....if your into that sortv thing...not like i am...*cough*....
"Akira" is definitely one of the best serious anime films. Nothing cute, no fanservice. Pretty heavy if you think about it too much (destruction/rebirth). Very high quality in all respects (esp. the remastered version). While I consider it a "must own", it's definitely a must-see.
I need to see it again. It's been quite some time, and my mind is more analytical nowadays, so I'd be able to comprehend whatever meaning might be there.
But turning into a big pile of goo was kinda weird for an ending.
Hurting feelings everywhere!
