| VISITING | AMV software Anyone around here make their own AMV's? If so, what is your software of choice to make them? A friend of my uses Windows Movie Maker, which I've played around with a little, but I was wondering if there was better software around. |

| AO co-founder | Windows Movie Maker is just to be honest plain and simple and well for anyone wanting to make something quick and not too spectacular. If your wanting to be serious and have some killer vids with special effects yada yada you need things such as for PC Adobe Premiere with Adobe After Effects for a compliment of post production special effects if your on a Mac get their Movie making software which does run at like 1 grand but it was used to make the "Must Be Dreamin" vid to Rah Xephon which had crazy special effects. Which btw could have easily been made using the above programs on PC its just that guy had a mac

![]() ![]() Credits: 29,723 | I use WMM for all my videos, The reason is that Adobe Premiere has a VERY STEEP LEARNING CURVE. If I had the time, I would sit down and work with it. But unless you have professional training with the program, you'll never really use it to its full potential. And if you play around with WMM with DvD quality source clips, you'd be surpised how powerfull it can be. I've done some pretty good videos with it. (look for Aceman67 Productions on AMV.org)

![]() ![]() Credits: 210 | I use vegas because it's actually pretty good and easy on a professional and amateur level, and you can do effects within the program, without stepping into After Effects at all. next to Avid xpress it's what i prefer. I don't like Premiere at all, it's not as simple as it should be, and I've tested every version since 4.9. after effects isn't simple either for newbies with all the compositing you have to do. If you have a chance, vegas' demo which i believe is a month trial with save options and check out avid Free, which is free on avid.com.
