    anime commonplace

in the past year or so i have watced the popularization of anime in the U.S. when i first saw this happening i was quite pleased just thinking about all the anime discussions that soon arise. but i am now more disapointed because, although it enjoys more popularity now it seems that the number of true fans grows smaller by the day. it concerns me for am a true fan of this media and to hear those around continously speak about their love of it and yet they dont like any shows or moveis other dbz. and when i attempt to give some suggestion on other good titles they say to me that dbz is the only good anime that exists. i am not sure if this is happening around the world but from where i stand i can anime falling and dieing around me

Woo! First action! Awesome! Great start! Anyways...

As where I stand, the hyperness towards anime seems to kinda fluctuate a bit rather than taking a downhill. During the summer and fall, when the sun is shining, girls are tanning, perverts are drooling, boys are rocking, oldies are yelling, and etc...the hyperness curve seems to attain a negative slope. Whereas in winter, when the sun is hiding, girls are sleeping, perverts are drooling, boys are chilling, oldies are sleeping, and etc...the hyperness curve seems to get a positive slope. However, the overall average seems to remain constant at my place.

At my place, the popularity of Anime is still very high. It is not declining at all. In Japan, that is.

I wouldn't expect anything less of the Japaness. My friend was a huge fan of DBZ and I introduced him to FMA and Vandread, D N Angel and he liked them all. I introduced another friend to FMA and he believes that to be the only good anime cause he refuses to watch any other

Thanks alot Sasurihell and Kedar for the sigs and thanks Sammy 65 for the changing pics

    YEa, nothing less from Kastelic

And as for the anime.....popularity here is still quite low. Im not surprised though, even other products are not as popular as in other countries. But bak when I was in the Phil, anime was quite popular, not going downhill at all. There was even a channel just showing anime all day, yea, great hit, that. Generally, I guess anime is more of a hit in the Asian areas than in English. They tend to prefer other types of shows.....like maybe, the Simpsons?

    Re: anime commonplace

well they are just close minded jerks, no point on reasoning with these kinda people (how old were the people that you talked too?), if they want keep on watching the same old things let them be and we other anime fans can keep watching our anime.

Anime is generally accepted among the people i know, and the popularity in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) area is rising, i see more anime/manga specialty shops opening up, more people going to cons (i think), manga in bookstores like Chapters and more anime on the local kids station eg. YTV. The thing is the increasing popularity of anime means more anime/manga being licensed in N. America and maybe a decrease price of anime dvds...wait or maybeincrease...well i dunno and of course more anime on tv too.

    Re: anime commonplace

anime really got popular in the 90's in Amreica. For me it was Toonami, they had great shoes like Salor Moon, Ronin Worriers,Gundam Wing, and yes Dragon Ball Z.DBZ is a action packed show that is so strected out even me being a big DBZ fan has never seen them all.I think thats what makes a anime good, haveing so meny eps to wacth you'll never run out.Even tho DBGT did get kinda lame.
