Anime characters drawn are made up but they possess our qualities.
^_^ of course some characters would be based on real people in the artist's life!
after all, the one thing i remember from AP Lang is that "Writers write what they know!" so it would make since that characters have similarities to people! the story wouldn't be believable if it didn't have that human element!
after all, in the anime Pita-Ten, the school the kids go to was based on the creator's Alma Mater (not sure if i spelled that right...)! ... there's nothing wrong with it, it's just that the author has a life too!
yup...coz tat way the author can express he/her feeling and thought better...easier...Originally Posted by Abu Dhabi

therefore it's both.
YYYEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
Anime became famous because it was "serious"...
It was based off of people that we could relate to...
In the beginning... things such as Betty Boop and Popeye and Looney Toons were just cartoons... there to make you laugh...
We had novels to bring us closer to characters...
And then, there was also comics... we felt small connections to the characters, but we felt closer than a cartoon, but less than a novel.
So... anime was a big hit because it was based off of real emotions and what not.
Even if it's overexaggerating, animes are still realistic to a sense.
... Betty Boop was the first animated character that was almost physically-correct... she became a big hit not just in the US, but all over the world who allowed American cartoons.
So... we improved slowly until we knew exactly what the public wanted.
... it just so happens that Japanese animation was the one who found a "great medium" to place it all on. ... ^_^ It's not like we planned animes to be the best in the beginning. Animes started as fantasies as well!
Animes are real characters in an imaginary world....the incidents, facts taken up in anime stories are very much related to real life...however to make them seem more entertaining and sometimes to invoke humour animes are created in imaginary worlds.
