yeah I agree, out of the torrents that my friends and I have watched, we've went out and bought most of it. It would really suck though if they did close them down.

Maybe if people lowered the cost of japanese cartoons (Anime) will Americans be happy. I am sorry, As much as I like anime, I will not pay 25 - 30 dollars for an average tape with 1 - 4 episodes and I refuse to pay boxed set prices of between 70 and 200 + dollars because a bunch of people get together, create a drawn series and then sell it.

Sorry, but I rather pay 20 - 30 for a real movie made, with real people and actors and not just voice acting. Funny how real movies cost a lot more to make but are cheaper to buy and you have Japanese companies that make animations complaining about how one site filled with links is considered to be illegal, when personal experience from dealing with japanese culture and its people prove that there are more Asian people, specially Japanese people downloading and bootlegging american music and movies and without permission on japanese sites selling movies that do not belong to them. The culture enjoys hiding behind their language so well.

I went once to a japanese site looking for movies for fun....They subtitle American movies in Japanese and Charge people for the downloads. They wanted people to pay the equivalent of 35 dollars for Lord of the rings: return of the king and they were a neutral japanese company and their site pages.

When most fansub group subtitle animation, they let you download it for free.

    It upsets me.

Japan pirated more copies of subtitled "The Matrix" and "Lord of the ring" movies than most can count. They are playing the same game, but we don't sue them when they do something but they do when its animation.

So, basically, you like anime, but you don't want to do anything to support the industry, like actually spend money on it. Anime does not appear magically -- animators have to get paid, advertisements have to be paid for, and a manufacturing and distribution chain has to be set up. Also, the company wants to make a profit too.

Since anime is a niche market and will sell far fewer DVDs than the average Hollywood film (even crappy ones), "real" movie prices will be lower. That's a basic rule in economics.

and you have Japanese companies that make animations complaining about how one site filled with links is considered to be illegal,
Not considered -- IS illegal. AnimeSuki themselves have stated that fansubs violate copyright laws here.

Because English speakers never use language to obsure their real intent.... :Thumbd:

Leaving aside the racism of this statement, it's simply not true that the Japanese do not get sued for music copyright violations. The US has the RIAA, and the Japanese have JASRAC [site] , who have also gone after Karaoke shops for not paying royalties. JASRAC, through mutual agreements with US copyright societies like ASCAP and BMI, serve as their copyright enforcers in Japan. Thus, it is only technically true that "we" have not sued in Japan for music copyright violations; our agent in Japan, however, has.

So taking someone else's work, altering it by putting in your own credits and subtitles, and mass distributing is OK if they do it for free (subsidized on many sites by ads, BTW) and happens to be merely animation you want, but if t3h 4514n5 outright rip off "real movies" and have the audacity to charge a market price for their effort to rip off and alter the work, that is evil, even though I would bet you that a consumer of these rips would use the same justification you used at the beginning of your post -- "Maybe if people lowered the cost of [american movies] will [japanese] be happy."
    Your ad here.

it's gonna be hard to ever stop these kind of things, I will say this that I for one download these anime

and now they have overseas stuff so they cant sue, and sooner or later these servers are gonna be in international waters, then in space...

there's no way to stop them

'Cause you give me something / That makes me scared, alright / This could be nothing / But I'm willing to give it a try / Please give me something
'Cause someday I might call you from my heart

To the one who chose to write a book.

There are many holes in your argument that I felt a headache come on when I was reading it. The situation is far more complex than you can possibly imagine. I had prepared a long post, but chose to spend my time being more productive doing something else.

If you wish to argue with me, we can take it by private messeges and instant messengers. I am chosing to be more mature here and not involve the entire forum in your ridicule.
