yeah, i agree with everyone here. Samurai Champloo is good stuff. it's sorta funny also.

You could give up the search for anime, head to your local bookstore and pick either Lone Wolf and Cub or Blade of the Immortal. Two excellent manga available (I believe) from Dark Horse Comics.
Better yet, skip the animation all together and watch a Kurosawa film or one of the eighteen Zatoichi films.
