Anime News Network posted an article last week that a second Appleseed movie is now in production to be directed by John Woo. Also, a 26 episode Appleseed TV series is also in the works to be released around the same time as the movie, (summer 2006)

The Anime Encylopedia resource at Anime News Network states that the Appleseed sequal will be John Woo's first anime production. He originates from Hong Kong, which makes it somewhat unusual for him to be directing a Japanese production...
