Art of Freedom Contest - $300 in Prizes - Everyone Welcome!

Hello AO pussycats!

I know it's been a difficult year but it's time to break the chains to the past and move forward into the new year. I will stop rambling here and simply state the exciting news of AO's newest contest.

The theme is freedom; what does it mean to you? The freedom to hate? Freedom to love? Freedom of religion? Freedom of speech and etc. Have fun with this theme because EVERYONE will be able to enter this contest.

Yes, everyone, from wallers, to drawers , photographers, and to, yes, even the poets. This is a contest to bring together all of AO to express their take on freedom. Every contest on AO has been directed towards one section of art at a time but to be true to our theme of freedom we are bringing everyone's talent into the mix. It wouldn't be a true theme of freedom if everyone wasn't free to enter and to do this we must open the gates to everyone since not everyone is a waller, a poet, a drawer, or a photographer. Now it's time to break it down.
-The contest begins now and will end on February 18th at midnight.

-It MUST be your work that you are submitting.
-The art must be within the sites limits.
-Remember, everyone is invited to enter the contest.

This contest will be consisting of the following four categories:

1. Wallpapers
2. Fanart
3. Photography
4. Poetry/Stories

NO songs or AMVs.


There will be cash prizes for three winners per category, making it a grand total of 12 prizes being awarded out in this contest. Prizes for every one of the four categories will be as follows:

The winner-$35
2nd place-$25
3rd place-$15
or
Alternate prize if enough members aren't in the category's- [Anime prize still yet to be selected]
This prize will be awarded to the person that should the most artistic and freedom like ability.

In order for winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) to qualify in any given category for the full prize amounts, there needs to be at least 10 participants in that category. "If not then I will consult spdude on a prize"

In the unlikely event of fewer than ten people participating in any of the four categories mentioned above, we will be handing out a prize only to one winner in that category.

Sashacat will be your main judge for this contest. Please send your work to her at Avriart@netscape.net or you can even post it here in this thread. Be sure to alert her through PM that you've posted your work in the thread. Also make sure the work revolves somehow around the "Freedom" theme.

-Also so that people don't think where buying their work, We are awarding the money to the people that spent time and dedication to there work ^_^. We are NOT buying rights to the image, or the scans thereon. Simply awarding the people we think spent the most time and dedication for their art piece.-

Every category is different and so each category will be judged seperately and recieve prizes. This prize will more than likely be a money prize so be ready to whip out your art gear and get to work!

Yes pretty nice prizes from the new owner are in store for the winners...

An you don't even have to make a wallpaper, you can write a poem or whatever ^_^.

Also more on the prizes!! there's a pretty nice amount in the budge... upto $300 dollars in prizes from our new owner spdude. I think it's a good thing he's putting money into the community.

Hey, I was wondering- I can't make anything like art, can I write a poem or a paragraph? I'm better at that, I'd like to hope :)
