![]() ![]() Credits: 498 | What hapened there is really devastating and I hope the relief aid is able to get their in time to help all those peopel who are injured and sick. Just watching actual footage from peoples camera freaked me out because Ive never seen anything like that before and what a tsunami looks like. I heard that this old man gave up his life to save his grandchildren. He apparantly told someone who was nearby to save the children and just let him go cause the children are more important. If its true or not, that takes a lot of courage to sacrifive yourself to save your family.

Newbie | Correction: Firstly, the death toll now doesn't stand at close to 90,000. it is now passed 127,000 and still rising. Reports in Asia are saying that the number of deaths in Aceh and North Sumatra alone could rise up to 100,000. Secondy, Jet Li is NOT missing. I recalled someone posting a msg earlier on saying that he's still missing. But he's not. I read on my local papers that he's found and his family are all fine. Except that he had a leg injury while trying to save his daughter. My views on this disaster: I'm sadden by this disaster. Some of my schoolmates were there when the tsunami hit. But luckily, they were out in the sea for a dive trip and thus they weren't affected by it. but when they returned to the shore, what they saw was trumatising. The entire shore was wiped out, bodies everywhere.. it was just horrible. Personally I felt that more lives could be saved if people act on what they know. The experts in Hawaii knew about the earthquake and sensed that something big could happened but because they didn't know who to contact, the information wasn't relayed to the 'to-be-affected' countries. If they had tried, more lives could be saved. my views on the megatsunami threats from La Palma, in the Cannary Islands: It's not a jokin matter, it's not called a megatsunami for nothing. if the west side of the La Palma collaspe into the sea, a tsunami would travel across the Alantic and hit across the continent in the US in a manner of 8 hours and the eastern part of the US will be affected. If you guys can get hold of the documentary called 'Horizon' by BBC, it gives you a detailed description of this threat. I happened to watch it last night on my local TV. |

![]() Lady Barronmore | Current count 129,817 and riseing (over 150,000 expected). 5 million are homeless. The search for survivors is pretty my over, now they're just trying to find the bodies of the thousands still missing. Global aid pledges are at $2 billion. (An article from 1 hr ago "Tsunami aid reaches remote areas") |
