Are saying you've listened to every side of the agruement all the time? No, it's not going to happen, no one, not you, me or anyone else will just sit down and listen to someone else's opinion that typically has to do with contradicting your religion's belief. When you think you're right, you don't want to hear it from anyone else unless you feel the need to defend your views. This doesn't apply to just religion either, it applies to most aspects of life.

    Really? I wouldn't have guessed.

Actually, for a year and a half I did just that when I worked as a missionary for my church. If I wanted someone to listen to me I needed to listen to them first. It helped me understand them and where they were coming from much better then if I just stood there and told them what to believe. You can't convince someone on things like that. All you can do is listen and share and let them make up their own minds.

    I know I learned alot.

Very funny Arrianna. lol at least I can accept it right?

Oh I know the benefits of listening, now just try to get that across to someone who doesn't listen! Closed-minded, Hot Heads, or just have too much pride, these are the people who won't listen. that's why I think people of religion won't listen to each other. I'm christian, I'm proud of my religion, I believe in God, but when someone random guy comes in and says right to you, you're wrong, it pisses me off. It pisses alot of people off. Now I have listened to these people before and they do make good points but,

I still think they're sadly mistaken. *shrugs*

I totally understand where your going. I'm an atheist/Lunarian..Although you never know whats true and whats not its all opinon but in my opinion it is wrong when christians or atheist criticize anothers religion its just as bad as racism. I also belive that (Not all) Christians are really sensible, I know one woman who forgets her so called "gods" lessons Shes totally mean and nasty to people who refuse to belive her religion and even goes crazy when her kids don't want to go to chruch (even when sick) but besides that my mother is religious and so is most of my family and they're pretty cool

I've never met anyone religious to the extreme they force their kids to church regardless of health, but I know I'm not like that.( not that I go to chruch ever...) One of my friends is a little more religious than I am (catholic...) and although we're like complete opposites, we're still friends. It's all how you were raised I suppose.

Yes, it is very important to know that not all people who share a common viewpoint believe and act all alike. If you start to see people as "that group", and say that all of them are "that way", we then discriminate unjustly. It is important to remember that not all people who you or I have experience throughout our life are like this.

Take the Jihad for example: the word "Jihad" means holy war. It was originally meant as a war to "save people" from their sins. And to do that, they used non-violent methods such as "converting" people to their religion.

Now most think Jihad stands for this bad religious sect bent on killing people in a real war against people not "of the faith." When if fact, only a small group of people are dumb enough to think of it as a physical war against people. [the terrorists]

So yes, it is important to remember that not all christians are "holy" and "good" and not all islamics are "terrorists" or "holy war causers", because its just not true.

Quote: "If someone was absent of sin, they would have died on a cross instead of Jesus."
So everyone makes mistakes is what that means... It's impossible not to.

In contrast to Chizu's post, in your drawing that you posted with the earth stopping, recently the earth did stop, when the SouthEast Asia earthquake hit, the earth actually stopped its rotation, causing the atomic tiime of the earth to be off by a few seconds, so right now a day is a little less than 24 hours. I take the belief personally that religion was a means for people to control one another, religion is a man made invention, the bible was written by someone, it was made, religion just did not pop into existance. Therefore I see religion as a sort of control. Though I am a non-denominational christian I am currently debating that right now(another topic of later discussion). I don't judge nor do I criticize other and their beliefs, because all they are doing is living how they think they should live, i have no right to tell them differently. Many people today cannot accept others beliefs mainly because of the situations that this problem comes up in, like a war or genocide or something. I totally agree that there is alot of misunderstanding going on, and only by respecting each other will we stop it. Its just like myself, I really don't care how you believe and if you explain your beliefs to me I will understand your point of view, I only ask that you do not try to convert me to your beliefs, HOWEVER, if your belief is fundamentally wrong as in it has already been proven a thousand times over, then I will think you are a fool. ex(this is an extreme case): Some one believes there is no gravity(very extreme case).

Clan orders: Wear the signature of defeat with pride.

Not entirely correct. The South East Asia earthquake only slowed the earth's rotation by an amount on the edge of what modern Science can measure (only a few micro-seconds at best). This happened because of the Physics concepts of 'Angular Momentum' and the 'Conservation of Momentum'. (For those readers who are not familar with the concept of 'Angular Momentum', the common example is a Ice Skater spinning on a single point. When she pulls her arms in, her rotation speeds up, When she moves her arms and hands outward, her rotation speed slows down) The loss of rotation speed is not significant, because the long term trend in earth's rotation is to slow because of tidal drag caused by the moon. With the mass and rotation of the planet, it would take far more then an earthquake of biblical proportions to stop the rotation of the earth.

Now back to our regularly schedualed religious debate...
