To name a couple off top of my head:

    Revolutionary War: The Patriot
    American Civil War: Glory
WW2: Saving Private Ryan (There are too many I like but that stands out)
Vietnam: We Were Soldiers (Great despiction of what happened that day)

Others: Braveheart, Last Samurai, Blackhawk Down

And has anyone every seen the Killing Fields; it's a movie about the genocide in Cambodia by the khmer rouge?

Band of Brothers is also a damn good series. I was happy to see they played it last week on the History Channel, what kills me is the DVD Boxset is like $100.

Band of Brothers is great and is worth it. I bought it like 2 years ago for $80, last one on the shelf too and look around online it should still be $80
