Society has always been like this. The only difference back then was that people were too naive to notice. And with new trends come new versions of the same old evils. It's an endless circle...

It is an endless cycle... But no one ever does anything about it... So they just live with it as others do whatever they want.

I believe every one enjoys the fact that society is crashing... There are a few exceptions but the majority like what's going on in some form or another... If we polled everone on AO on what degrading or immoral thing they have done, we can see all of us have taken part in the downfall of society...
"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteouness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God."

order brings chaos and chaos brings order
it is inevitable for mankind to fall once again and then rise from the ashes
    we're like a virus
most of us may die from the cure, but there will be a small few who will grow immune from it and become a stronger strain of humankind
    I love my girlfriend.

I once told my friend that until I was like, 16, I had to be in my house by the time the street lights came on. He could NOT phathom such an atrocious rule. Simple rules like that make a huge difference though. They establish boundaries and make sure your kid isn't being a dillhole somewhere.
So in other words we're reaping the results of the 60-70's? Possible, very possible.

no... all the great societies have had their rise... and then a horrific demise... think of society as just another civilization... it will follow the outline set by history... but the question is where we stand at the present time... are all our leaps in technology, declines in morals, are they really part of our demise? or are they infact the roots for the greatest heights we've yet to reach?

i wish my grass was emo so it would cut itself.

True, except the US has already beaten the record. It's the longest single political system to ever last in history. Yes there are countries to have lasted longer but none have kept the same government system for over 200 years. Which suggested to me that it's working and working well. That also means that if things fall apart it will be because society itself falls apart.

Yes, there is a natural cycle. Whole books have been written on the subject. And the depths societies these days have fallen to have been reached before, but only by civilization who were about to crumble. You know what they say; "If you don't know history you are doomed to reapeat it." Do we really want to repeat the fall of Rome etc.?
