But..... I'd avoid the dub if you're not a real big dub fan. Since it's rather cringe worthy.
They give Hisoka "way too much" attitude, and Watari's has the same voice actor as James from Pokemon.
The anime is 13 episodes long (4 DVDs) covering volume 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 of the manga. It's a tad open ended, since the manga is still ongoing.

Anyway... I really like Tsuzuki too... but I believe he's not as strong as he really lets on.
How far have you read in the manga? For you'll begin to see what I mean once you get past volume 5 and especially into volume 7 and 8. His back story is very interesting.... but also so very incomplete. There's so many unanswered questions. You'd think after 11 volumes of manga Yoko Matsushita would of answer some of them.... but damn the women is slow.

yea i totally aggree with you guys....i've never read the manga........i hope it's as good as yu say it is

I know it's horrible ne? But just watch it subtitled, if your getting the DVDs that shouldn't be a problem.
The original japanese voice actors rule. They all suits their roles perfectly...
Watari's got a great Japanese voice actor, plays him perfectly... plus, Watari's supposed to have an Kansai accent (a mix between Kyoto and Osaka) which just doesn't come through in the dub.


As for the manga Yuki, you've got to read it if you love this series.
It's heaps better than the anime for it goes into much more detail. Much more.
For example, two volumes of the manga were condensed into just 4 episodes.
While the anime did a quite good job on adapting the manga, there was still so much that was left out. Including 3 whole volumes of the manga, and 4 other Shinigami (Saya, Yuma, Terazuma *Wakaba's partner* and Chizuru)
Plus you get to see much more of the Shikigami (Tsuzuki has 12 of them afterall) and even get to see them in human form.
The manga is great, VIZ are releasing it in English and it's currently up to volume 4, with volume 5 coming out soon.

But alas, keep in mind if you want to start reading the manga that it is on hiatus and has been for quite some time. There's a possiblity that it will never be finished.... but that's only a possiblity.
Currently there are 11 published volumes.

Oh the english dub is HORRIBLE! The only voices I can even come CLOSE to not hating are those of the minor characters. Watari, Hisoka, Muraki, Tsuzuki, god EVERYONE! They're voices are horrible. But other than that I loved the anime almost as much as I loved the manga... because I watched it in Japanese... Muahahaha! -cough- Anyway I may be wrong, but is Tsuzuki's voice the same guy from YuGiOh? I think it is but I can't be sure. Be it or not his voice still sucks in english...

I actually think it is the same voice actor.
Now that you mention it... and that's just plain scary. It must of been dubbed by the same dubbing company that did Yugioh and Pokemon. It's just too cringe worthy.
Tsuzuki has a great Japanese voice actor, as does everyone in the entire cast. Yami is defanitly an anime to be watched in Japanese, if ever there was one.

i could not put it down once I started to read it. everyone should read this anime.
