Is Disney harming?

Violence in kid's fairy tales has a long established tradition going way way back in time. There's the case of the poor helpless grandmother being eaten alive by the Big Bad Wolf..., A House gets dropped on someone in 'The Wizard of Oz'. There's rampant drug use in 'Alice in Wonderland'...

More modern examples would be the 'Tales of Narnia' series by H.P. Lovecraft (who also wrote the occult horror 'Cthulu' series) the movie based on the first book of the series ('The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe') is being released by Disney for the Christmas season... Disney is no more at fault at this then the works it's movies are based on, and the culture that created them...

Actually Len, Chronicles of Narnia was created and written by C.S. Lewis. H.P. Lovecraft had nothing to do with that whatsoever. I'm not gloating but i follow the dudes work with a passion....

I think the older movies will hurt the kids of today. They are great movies and all (because I did watch them), but nowadays it kind of doesn't fit in today's society.

No, but their minds "cache" it. There are things in Disney's more recent (*cough* Eisner *cough*) movies that are innappropriate. That is why they have a few PG13 animations out there. The problem lies in that there are parents that hear Disney and automatically assume that it's safe when that is no longer the case. "That movie was to violent!" "She wasn't wearing enough!" Well, duh... it's PG/13. If your kid is to young for the rating don't let them watch it no matter who makes it.

The sad thing is that Disney used to have a deserved reputation for being kid freindly. Now they are mearly "marketable".

If you really go down to disney and you check out the original little mermaid there's some hardcore sex stuff in there if any of you know what i'm talking about so i would say there's some pervs in disney in the new one they edited it out though there's a lot of subliminal things in disney movies but kids don't usually see those but the funniest thing about disney is that their with gun control! I don't like that and yet if you ever go to disney world they have lots of gun types of things and they show a lot of stuff in their movies which proves that disney if hipocritical against themselves!

Well then you shouldnt let them watch the news, most stuff on regular tv or cable.

I grew up on Disney, and I turned out alright. Then again, I always perfered Looney Toons over Mickey Mouse... I think it's funny they've slipped in a few naughty things here and there, it shows they're for the kids, but not a bunch of facists.
