Though Disney does seem to put subliminal messages into their movies. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about, if not, watch the Lion King and look for the word "sex" in the dust when adult Simba lays down, or The Little Mermaid when the priest gets a boner. But I hear that stuff was caused by animators being retarded. Its still pretty funny though.
All I have to say is that in my point of view Disney animators are just horny

    XD JK! JK!

^.^ But it wouldn't be surprising. Maybe it's like the Vikings, taking drugs to kill better............. "Viagra, helps you animate better"... XD

    Re: Is Disney harming?

I don't really like Disney. I've always found it boring and I'd rather watch anime (from when I was about 6 til now).
I think that it's quite okay, and it gives kids some imagination. And kids are less likely to notice or understand the perverted things than us. But some kids cannot distinguish what is real or not, and they may believe that real life is just like in Disney: there are always the good guys on one side and the bad guys on the other, the good guys will always win in the end, and they will live happily ever after... And when these kids will have to face reality... you don't know how they'll react.
I think that parents should be wary of what their children watch. And try to make them understand that not all of it is real. Children are not that stupid. I never believed that anything from Disney is real, even if my parents tried to make us watch it more often.

Sometimes, they're not trying to tell the children whether good people always win in the end. What Disney is doing, is trying to help children not "grow up too fast"... a child that grows up in death and destruction. Or where there's a sad ending or whatever... ends up........
................well........ kinda'... pessimistic in the end. As if they don't ever want to give imagination a chance. To never think outside the circle, because in the end, you die, or lose. Yes, I know I know, you're going to talk about how not all anime do such things. But everyone has their kind of thing.

Dude, I grew up in anime AND Disney, Disney is heart-warming and inspiring.
If you grow up watching anime, you tend to be a little more......... extreme.
Growing up with Disney sorta' tells you what is a story. You're not going to believe all your life that you're Aladin, or Simba, or whatever... you're eventually going to grow out of it, but still like the idea of a happy ending.

...not only that, but studies show that kids growing up to Disney are nicer to children. ^.^ They are less.... extravagant. Maybe more American, but they usually are the ones who are watching TV and saying "OMG! Those horrible people!" ........... sure they can get racist and sexist, but Disney can lower that thought a little more. Also: It's better to watch in disbelief about the world of destruction THAN JOIN IN IT.

A kid born in anime... finds life................ a little more..... boring.
    Annoying.
... nothing new. So YOU make something new.

As great as you think that is. That has SEVERAL negatives.

    I'll just stop here.

I'm really sorry if you don't like what I'm going to say, but I'm not trying to offend anyone.

You're right, I've grown to be pessimistic... very pessimistic. But it didn't happen because of anime or all the violent movies I watched when my parents weren't at home (I was disobedient at the time ). And life was always boring, so it may mainly be due to being alone, I think...
"If you grow up watching anime, you tend to be a little more......... extreme" It depends on which anime you've watched.

Our ancestors didn't need fairy tales to be imaginative... nearly all children are imaginative, even if you make them grow up in a world of destruction. In fact, they do live in a world of destruction, so what's the use of hiding the truth from them?

One day I got new friends... we became "best friends" and then... they betrayed me. In the end, no one would talk to me because of all the things they said behind my back. They acted as if I was a bad guy in these cartoons... and they were the good guys... That's why I'm pessimistic, because I tried to believe that love and friendship was true. I tried to believe in these stories. Well, friendship exists just as long as you're not different from others. Otherwise, they just try to destroy you, because they fear you. Just like witches were burnt because people feared their powers. They don't show you the other side of the medal in Disney, or they do it in such a way that you barely notice it. The person is more focused on other things.

I think that there is nothing worse than to show children an illusion of life, because they will suffer very much when they will see the strangulation that life has prepared for them.
If one day I ever come to have children, I may let them watch Disney, but I would also tell them about what happens in real life that is not shown in Disney. I'd like to be sure they're prepared to see all the horrible things in this world so that it will not affect them too much.

    Re: Is Disney harming?

I don't think Disney is harmful to children. The Disney even have some sort of warning system before they show the series to the audience. Same goes to Anime.
Anime are great for the young and adult! It gives the youngster many spaces for there imagination to grow, like Doraemon, Jagainu, Hamtaro, etc. For teenager, anime provides the Comedy anime like Ramma1/2, Yakitate!! Japan!, Aishiteru ze Baby, etc. For Adult... well you know the rest ^_^.
