Do you watch the news? - Page 2

I don't watch the television news. I prefer newspapers.

The television news here follows an annoying blueprint.

Story 1: Someone in X county did something really stupid and people died.
Story 2: Someone in Y county did something really stupid and the someone was arrested for the 3rd time.
Story 3: Iraq
Story 4: Somebody in State Government did something really stupid and the taxpayers are going to have to foot the bill
Story 5: UK basketball
Story 6: Weather
Story 7: Somebody did something really stupid but someone else bailed them out in a heartwarming way.
Join us tomorrow- same time, same station.

Not often, but in the house I live in I can't avoid it so there is no reason to. Between newspapers, radios, and the internet I keep more in touch with world news then most people I know. Sometimes I have to just turn them all off and go read a good book.

Exactly, Thats why I only watch sports and the weather. The other crap is too dam depressing!!

I would also like to point out to you that a large number of members here are under 18. Now while a familiarity with world affairs would be nice it is not likely at that age. Put simply they have more things to worry about, such as growing up in a world with severe problems, then what people they can't influence might be doing.

no, I don't mainly because there is never any good news, just bad shit, also, i am in college, I don't have time to watch it considering I have classes and homework and stuff.

Thats kinda of a generalization alot of ppl under 18 watch the news...lol Maybe its because their more sensative to bad stuff and it bothers them more??

Sometimes i do watch the news at night, if i can't at least i try to watch the last 10 min of it..so i could see the weather for the next day.
I do listen to the radio in the morning on my way to work, to learn whats going on around me... i don't like to be uninformed about the news. Especially at my age, i don't want people coming up to me to ask me my opinion on something that's happening right now, and me going...uhhh... i dunno.

Yes, it is a generalization. "Not likely" isn't the same as "not going to". I started watching the news when I turned 16, but I was in the minority until I got to college.
