    Re: Downloading Anime

With foreign export generating larger and more significant portion of the Japanese entertainment industry's income, especially in manga and anime, Japanese companies are working on methods to minimize their significant losses to piracy.

Due to its nature, manga sales have not been suffering significant losses to piracy, however there is a large number of pirated CDs and DVDs being sold overseas, large enough for the Japanese industry to begin researching and implementing drastic counter-measures.

The Japanese visual contents industry will begin labeling products with stickers designating them as legitimate exports, thereby making it easy to identify pirated goods. In July it was reported that 38 Japanese entertainment companies were set to introduce a "Made in Japan" trademark for similar purposes. According to a current report on Yahoo Japan, companies will start adding the stickers to exported goods as early as this September. In order to provide additional ammunition for their fight against international piracy they will also begin applying for trademarks in various countries in North America, Europe and Asia.

The reports do not mention what measures will be taken to keep piracy operations from copying producing fake copies of the identifying stickers.

Additionally, it was recently mentioned at the Otakon "State of the Industry" panel that Japanese companies may start direct legal processes against North American fansubbers (more details on this will be presented in our final Otakon coverage later this week).

as far as downloading of anime is concerned, some/most anime studios have a love/hate relationship with the fansub community where they have to balance the issue of loss of CD/DVD sales vs free publicity and building the anticipation of a release in foreign markets. Some anime studios (Media Factory) have taken steps to have their productions removed from the Internet, and responsible fansub sites (http://www.animesuki.com) have taken steps to remove links to Media Factory works, as well as works licensed by US distributors...

Because Anime Online is hosted on servers located in the United States, we are potentially liable under US Trade Mark/Copyright laws. As a result, we a clause in the Forum Rules that states...
-No illegal material. Requests for/distribution of commercial DVD-rips, licensed torrents, warez, kiddie-porn, etc. is prohibited.
Should a US distributor, or a Japanese Studio request a link or reference to one of their licensed products be removed, we will follow their request....

we've taken it into instant messenger talk already, anyways animesuki link shouldn't be allowed here either, or otherwise we're allowed to put on links where you can download Japanese software ... not licensed in USA anyways so why do we care or do we? ;O

Licensed or unlicensed in what continent doesn't matter .. warez and links to warez should be removed.

If i put a Japanese movie online and post a link here... (not licensed in America) it would be alright?

But if it's American... not..... kinda discrimination ;O

    Admin breaking 2 rules ;O

-Don't be an @$$hole. Flaming, excessive swearing, sexual posts, harassment or generally hostile attitude will result in immediate banning. Just be respectful of others.

you don't respect Japanese work? but you do respect American 'licensed' works?

-No illegal material. Requests for/distribution of commercial DVD-rips, licensed torrents, warez, kiddie-porn, etc. is prohibited.

    it's still warez

lol I'm breaking a rule myself now lol

-Please do not argue with the moderators on-forum or send them hate-mail. If you think you've been treated unfairly, PM Cybergig1. Also your not a mod so don't "psuedo mod" in other words DO NOT correct the members. Its not your job.

oh no wait you're admin, not a normal member so i guess i'm alright ;P and since i'm not arguing just pointing out something i'm not breaking it.

Well anyways what i'm trying to say is

Everything allowed or nothing allowed, no exceptions... unless it's actually free.

My country has a rule ... no dutch flag on your jacket..... because it's intimidating ... but other flags are allowed... it's not fair.... please don't make this rule the same ;P

PS: I'm gay. I could never get a girl so I need to try guys now.
