By 'trick question' I was thinking of unspoken extra clues like:
cats would never live next to dogs
a beer drinker would never live next to a water drinker
a dane wouldn't live next to a swede
no one in their right mind would paint a house yellow next to a red house (actually I think no one in their right mind would paint a house yellow but then that would imply the owner of the yellow house is insane - a frenchman? (no insult intended to any frenchmen here, honest ).

Sorry, but I'm always looking to make logic problems more complicated than they really are.

Wow! You beat an Evil Sudoku puzzle in 10 minutes?!?!

The one Evil puzzle I tried I gave up as not being worth the time I was spending with it. It generally takes me over half an hour for the hard ones - not that I'm trying to beat any time records, I do them to relax or distract me from television.
The medium difficulty ones are nice for just relaxing the mind a bit - almost light meditation.

For anyone wondering what we're talking about here's the link again:
    http://www.websudoku.com/
The first taste is free (so is the billionth but don't tell anyone).

By the way, I'm a 'she' not a 'he'. I know, my user name is ambiguous, you're not the first one to have made that mistake. I've thought of changing to 'teddelerette' or 'teddeleress' but it just doesn't have the same feel to it and 'teddeless' sounds like I've lost my teddels.

    Re: The enigma of Einstein

Right, well... seeing as Ectoruss has failed to post the answer today as he promised, looks like I'll have to post it for those who couldn't figure it out.

    The answer is.... (scroll down)

    The German has the fish.

Don't ask me how I solved it. I'd have to dig that paper with all my scribbles, crossed-out possibilities and vulgarities scrawled all over it out of my wastepaper basket.

    Re: The enigma of Einstein

Sounds like you went through the same hell as I did...but I got the German as well. It seems to me like 2% is an awfully low number of people who can solve the problme; you'd think that even with guessing, the number would be a little higher.
Of course, we can't be sure of how many people here actually solved the problem, since I'm sure the answer was easily accessable on the web. So maybe 2% is a good number, if Einstein was assuming the people actually sat down and attempted the answer, as opposed to guessing. In any case, it was a good excercise for my brain; I haven't done a logic problem in years (I used to buy the books all the time), so it's good to know I can still do them!

And I remember now, at the top of my lungs in my arms, she dies, she dies.
