I see it all the time, it never happened to me though
I think that in a way you would have to get better in wording threads. in ways that get through the loopholes in the forum rules??
How many of you started a thread that was sort of "IFy" which was closed before anyone really had a chance to post in it?
For me it has been about 3 maybe.

The thing is that some thread you posted didn't got a good subject. A thread is supposed to have a question (in general) and surrellly not post you mind state or history about what happened....

It happened more on the old AO I think, but then again, there were more mods at that time too...
But then again (again), the old AO had more members too...

At the old AO it happened a lot, many threads were closed down, and people were told that it was more of a journal entry. Which caused AO to slow down, then everything was GIVEN A CHANCE!
