What you need to keep in mind, is that before email messages are sent, attachments aren't really 'attached'. All it has is a link to the location of the file on your hard disk. And if this file is deleted, or moved to a different location, then the attachement link is now 'invalid'. (This usually isn't a problem with attached graphic files, but if your sending an attachment from Microsoft Word, or a browser application, which links to the current 'temp' file...)
