I use the magic wand and the eraser tool up close to the edges of the image. Then for the image to not have the jagged eges I put a outter glow on the image ^_^ looks really good that way
Just curious how you guys extract your images. Which lasso tool do you use? Do you use the magic wand? On average how much time do you say you spend per image extracting?
As for me, I use the polygonal (spelling?) lasso tool. Zoom in about 2 clicks from max, then take it piece by piece. I also stick a solid color layer behind the image, something that will make the remaining parts of the image stand out and allow me to see any mistakes. It usually takes me anywhere from 2 to 3 hours to finish depending on how exact I want it, or the size of the image. Small images are like 30 minutes (we're talking really small), medium sized are around an hour to an hour and a half. Large images are 2 hours or so, give or take a few minutes. Huge images are usually around 3 hours. After i'm done I usually apply a thin black stroke effect to the layer, with a slightly dropped opacity setting. That usually makes it look clean. Then it is ready to go on whatever background I have made.

There's a extraction filter you can use, I generally spend half an hour, at 1 px extracting the picture if the surrondings of the focus has lotsa color. If the background color is basic, then I just use the magic wand. In most cases the magic wand doesn't work however, so it's always you and that extraction tool at 1 px and zoom tool.
In both cases I clean up the pictures with a pencil to fill in spots and eraser to clean up spots.
hehe, i use the lasso tool.
works well for me, after that i clean up
the useless spaces that came with the image < 3
Typically I zoom into the image ranging from 500%-700% and then start cleaning away with the polygon lasso tool. The time usually varies depending on the size of the image and how many complexities there are i.e. long hair, complicated clothing, etc. I'd usually say anywhere from 3-5 hrs on extraction which is usually spread over the course of 2 -3 days since I'm not a very patient guy. After that, only if there's no re-cging/drawing needed, I duplicate the image, apply gaussian blur, set layer to overlay then I'm set to go.
Thsi seems to work for me since im a lazy ass and dont care to take alot of time on itOriginally Posted by Rou

I usualy use the magnetic lasso and the eraser zoomed in very close and I put a black and a white layer bellow and alternate them on and off to check for errors
