Don't you people forget: One way of survival is also to RUN... fighting isn't the only way of survival.
There's also talking yourself out of it.
There's also tricking people.
There's also bribing. (however, you gotta' let them know you'll be a constant "customer" of this protection until you can think of something better)

But only because I attack from afar.
if you are truly strong you can prevent a fight altogether through respect and charisma. however if push came to shove, I'd be quick to inflict enough damage onto my attacker so I could safety flee from the brawl. I'd be the last person to start a fight.
