Best thing to do is to watch the film - then watch the series in its entirety - you can't start watching it in the middle of the series... Because then you won't know what's going on at all. Trust me, in the end it will all make sense!

Brief explanation of SAC: It's the continuation of the story of Section 9. They are cyborgs - part human, part android. The term Ghost In The Shell refers to the fact that the conciousness of a person (or soul, or ghost, etc...) is transfered to the artificial body of an android (the shell, if you will) The only member of Section 9 that is not entirely cyborg is Togusa - he still has his human body. (Togusa is my fave character )

Ghost In the shell is the best! Everything made perfect sence, one of the top anime ive ever seen, lots of quotes, metaphores, everything! It was a well thought out anime unlike a lot of anime that are out there, i loved the laughing man shinanigans and it was sad in the end when section 9 gets shut down and they kill motoko (or do they?)
