Good action and horror anime and manga

hey ppl
well just by the title you know what i am looking for.i recently watched ghost in the shell series and also hellsing series.
and now i feel intriuged by japanese action and horror.
in action i like serious stuff (not the usual which have funny lines in between)
horror cant obviously have funny lines
so help me find some good titles in action/adventure and horror genre

If you're looking for action, I would suggest Arjuna, although, the whole series covers a lot of things so it doesn't concentrate on the action fully, but the battle scenes, although they're not that many, are to be taken note of.
I don't know if you would consider them action though, as the Ghost in the Shell does have a lot more action, but Arjuna is still recommendable. Perhaps you can try Vampire Hunter D, because from what I hear, it's more satisfying than Hellsing, which I have also watched myself.

For horror anime, I'd recommend Boogiepop Phantom. The story can be a little hard to follow sometimes (it was for me the first time I watched it

), but it has a really eerie atmosphere and it's kinda dark. It's the only anime that's given me the shivers.

"Blood: The last vampire" is a good mix of action and horror. I really enjoyed this one and the horror felt like it came right out of a hollywood movie... ok not exactly out of a hollywood movie, but it felt like it.

As far as horror titles to try that you haven't all ready seen..... I'd sugguest Elfen Lied.
It's a rather new title, only made in 2004, but it's all ready been licensed by ADV so the DVDs should be out fairly soon.
It's got lots of blood and violence, as well as lots of nudity and creepy little girls.
So if you like a series that's very VERY dark and moody, pretty horrific and gut wrenching but still enjoyable and entertaining to watch, I'd go with Elfen Lied.
One of the best horror anime I seen in a while....

You don't think horror can have funny lines? I thought the whole intention of horror was to make people laugh...

they say witchhunterrobin is horror, but to me i don't think whr is actually that scary.
anyway, i would reccommend that.

Maybe it's not a horror anime exclusively... but it's most certainly got it's creepy, scary, gorey and horrific moments.
And isn't that what horror is all about? Mostly...
