    Re: Government Lies

I have always felt that some lies by the governing body are necessary, while others are not. It all depends on the context. For instance, the US Government lied their way through the Vietnam War. If the tide of the war started to turn against us at any point, the government would continue to tell us things were going well. But afterall, war is war, and tides will turn back and forth in the course of it. Would informing the public that we had our asses handed to us two days ago help the fight? No. The government needs to keep some things secret from the public, because afterall, if the public knows, so does the rest of the world. Suppose the plans for D-Day were printed in the NY Times for the benefit of the public? I'm sure we would have seen interesting results.

However, there are some things which should not be lied about as well. The constitution and everything writtin in it is truth. There may be some limitations placed on how much you can excersize a right (ie if you say you're going to bomb the senate, you damn well should be hauled off for questioning) but overall, you have every right in there. The reason the media get sued is because they may or maynot have infringed upon someone else's right's. Which would be up to a court to decide.

Another major problem is that the people aren't in charge of anything. Why? Because only about 1/3rd of those who can vote do.

    Re: Government Lies

No school is stopping you from worshipping...itleast not in church. They don't tell you that you can't worship at home and no government agency has a gun to your head ready to use it if you practice your religion. Your free to worship how you wish. Just becuase you can't worship how you wish on school grounds does not mean you have no freedom of religion.

Just because you can't practice your faith at your school does not mean other schools won't let you. Here in Utah, middle and high school students are allowed to take one class period and have siminary study off campus (usually next door) instead of a secular class. Sepearation of church and state is upheld while allowing the student to exersise their religion. It all works out well.
