Harajuku Girls

Harajuku Girls seem to be appearing a lot recently. Mostly because of Gwen Stephani it would seem, but they're actually quite interesting.

They tend to dress in "costume" and gather in specific areas all over Japan. Their costumes are pretty interesting. They vary from over-done school girls, to gothic nurses.

Here's some examples:

Punk Harajuku
Blue Harajuku
Red Harajuku

What do you know about Harajuku? Note: They're not all women.

harajuku is a section of japan where the style of dress is such as what youve seen. it has nothing to do with gwen stefani except that a lot of people had never heard of this style until she started copying it, if thats what you mean.

and, youre right, not all of them are girls, its just the style thats "cool" where they are. its less extreme counterpart is shinjuku (also tokyo) where they do have a distinct style but its not as outlandish as it is in harajuku.

Yeah, its pretty interesting to see some of the getups they have.. some are pretty out there too. Its like Live Action Anime, 'cept... not? Heh..

Why is it creepy? Ok, I do kinda understand why you'd say that. But hey, aside from whatever, if you look at the effort and the actual design and effort they put into their costumes, its pretty cool, and detailed.

I love Harajuku.... it's supposed to be the 'hippest of coolest' places you could visit in Japan when you're looking for fashion.

I just love the indiviuality in each costume...
