I think my distinction for "LOVE" would be have you loved and been loved in return. And as far as lost goes.. do you feel that you have met that special SOMEONE, loved them.. and unfortunently lost them.

i have loved and been loved.
having done so makes any loss hard to remember.

So far love makes up for most of my lost
You can't lose before you love
once you love you have a chance of losing
you can't lose what you don't love (it wouldn't be real loss if you didn't love it/them)
at the end of everything, you gain something from every loss.

I would have to say Love.
I have been very patient when it comes to Love and have been willing to lose that which would not last to find one that would. So while technically I have Lost, I do not feel it to have been a loss since I have gained so much.
