Thread: hello

Hello everyone, my username is Devebond. I am fairly new at anime/manga.

The first anime I started watching was Berserk. My fiance got me started on it, and I mostly have watched what she has gotten since. Although I really like berserk as one of my favorites I have since become really interested in Hellsing and am currently reading the available Manga on that series. I also have started reading Ranma 1/2 as well. That is my favorite non-action packed series.

As part of my coming to this site I have brought my first attempt at making an Anime wallpaper. It is a background of Alucard from the Hellsing series. He is my favorite character in the anime and manga. I am really proud of it although I can see some of the flaws I made along the way, but I will wait and see if anyone comments on what I have forseen as the flaws before mentioning them. I hope you all like it.

A little more about me....I am a graduate student currently studying for my Ph.D. in chemistry. Aside form chemistry I also have a B.A. degree in history and love to read books on history as well as alternative history. I am curently into a series by Harry Turtledove called the Settling Account series, which are books 8,9and 10 of the complete 10 book series. The books are based on the what if the South had won the civil war culminating in an alliance with the Confederate States of America with England as well as France. The series starts with the second civil war taking place in the late 1880's, followed by a 3 book series on the Great War (WWI) followed by the 3 book series on the aftermath of the Great War, finished by a three book series on the next great war or WWII. I highly recommend the series as well as other books by Harry Turtledove.

I am also a movie collector....well I buy lots of VHS and DVD's. My fiance and I have about 150 dvd's and around 200 or so VHS tapes between us. We definately have a lot. We also have a ton of books....my fiance loves sci-fi and fantasy related books. She is the one that got me into Hellsing.
