The best thing for you is to build a budget model PC, which you can do on your own. Its not hard. I have assembled PCs for 400 - 500 before that run great.

You are not looking for anything flashy and work seems to be your priority. Dell right now is the cheapest OEM out there that is also holds the greatest market share.

Be sure that you ask the one tending to your needs for a copy of your operating system and all recovery utilities because the majority of the time they forget. Also ask for the most detailed product specifications sheet just in case something breaks down.

Stay way from anything from HP or Compaq is all I can say Sony is OK and Dells are good

What about a Gateway? Anything that is boxed in live cow skin has to be good.

Gateway and emachines are rated as the worse OEMs in existence by the IDC group.

Ya they are Clone Pc. Dell is kinda similar but is build for personal use. I mean, they put in the comp. what you really want to. but the best way to have a computer that you'll like, Is to buy rhe part separately then assemble all. ET VOILA !!!
