Newbie | Help? Opinions on Anime/Manga in school Hi, I am new here. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am writing a persuasive essay in English class and my topic is the debate to let Anime/Manga into our school. The administrators don't care for it they say it is "violent" and "suggestive". So i am trying to give a good arguement to let us have it in school. Some of the books that we have in the library ("normal" comics) are worse than the Anime ones. So I need your help. Please if you have any opinions on this topic, reply or e-mail me. I would really appriciate it. Ja Ne ![]() |

| the unofficial enforcer | I know how you feel... not really but still i have wrote anime articles in english and when read aloud everyone had no idea what in the heck i was talking about. I simply said it's japanese cartoons, not porn! Although we actually have anime in the library, currently i have seen akira and a couple others and Akira is considerably violent many people dont even notice its there. What you need to do is not make such a big deal over it but slip it ever so slightly into the school, they wont notice at first but they will notice ![]()

![]() ![]() Credits: 220 | I'd suggest you check out the thread (I think it's in the Plush Room) named "Banning mangas from public schools?" or something of the sort, will certainly give you clues. There's just one thing I'd like to say: To me Anime/Manga is like an art form with its differents genres: it has for kids, horror, for girls of that certain age, for boys of that certain age. It is not so much different from cinema per example. |

Newbie | Thanks for replying. Yeah i know you can slip it in school , but we had a club and it was banned from the school. It was so not fair, then we just decided to have it at someones house but that really isn't fair to that person (cause theres a lot of us). We have a sword club at our school, does anyone mind telling me what the difference is in violence between anime and real life? They actually use real swords. Thanks for telling me about the other topic i'll check it out. Ja ne |
