That being said, I'll move on to the issue at hand.
Not spouting out Kant's philosophy anymore? New semester of philosophy, I suppose. ;)Quote:

In this case, I'm inclined to agree with Kierkegaard. Modern day "heroics" are often are nothing of the sort, and the individuals that many admire as "heroes" are far from being true heroes -- though I suppose that is a matter of perspective. One man's hero might be another man's villain.
How true. EVERYONE is flawed........and those minor flaws might be something that could be interpreted as acts of villiany or not being heroic. I guess it just depends on how you look at things..Quote:

Well...in any case, the idea that "One man's hero might be another man's villain", is far too pejorative sounding and leaves nothing to the imagination and further more, nothing to be desired. At least have some faith in the concept of Heroism.
Granted today is has been reduced to pretension and mere cliche, but it isn't complete unreasonable to expect one to act heroic in an unqualified way. In other words, one shouldn't lambaste the hero, but rather, one should fault the way the people perceive him. He is still however, a hero nonetheless.
Also, I was trying to avoid unnecessary confrontations, but it seems that is no loner possible...
*sigh*... looks like it back to the "old school"
You post in a section called opinions and debate and don't expect confrontation?Quote:

Hmm, I guess I can say I've never really been oppressed so maybe you have a point there? But I read the papers and watch the news, and just look all around me and I can see people who are oppressed.Quote:
