Hi all! to help usher us into a new era and because we have worn out this layout more then our favorite jeans its time to give the AO site a facelift. As such we'll be having a contest. And to make it fair and to where more can take part it wont be a "layout" contest but a graphics contest in that we will ask for you to make a topbar graphic similar
to what you see now.

The contest is for members to submit a graphic/s we can use for the top of the site as a banner and we will make the entire layout of the site match the winners color scheme. Hence a whole new look for the site. Phil's already got some ideas for new menu's etc. so again we'll be taking care of the layout portion but we want to give you members a chance to take part as the current layout was made in the same way as a contest some years back. The winner will receive a gift to be announced as Phil wants time to find something good. Examples would be a possible gift certificate to an online anime store, to the future AO store or some other anime related gifts such as DVD's etc. So just to get you motivated this will not be a slack prize it will definitely be worth your wait in rice ^_-

rules and details

-only 3 entries per person

-try not to make the top entirely too large. We dont want to see
just the top graphic and have to scroll down to see the site
(if you ever visit animelayer.com thats about the max size
I'd recommend using)

-your welcome to put on a character for representation however
we'll also need you to make a psd/jpg file that is just the banner
without a character so that we may add the mascots and do up
some other rotating banners as we do now and can make seasonal changes etc

-no crazy colors please remember that we'll be matching the site
to the winners graphic and just keep in mind colors that make
for a good forum setup as far as text etc etc. Color will play
just as large a part as design in how well you do in the contest


-Judging will be conducted by Phil and myself. This opens up the contest to everyone including staff members and eliminates any conflict of interest. So everyone is welcome to enter!

-please dont thiev someone elses graphics off their layout :¬
that would equal automatic disqualification from the contest even if you submitted your own images as 2nd and 3rd entries.

-the contest will last for 2 weeks to give everyone time.

delete it as spam.
I dont want this to be a gallery submission ordeal as we dont
want people taking ideas from others or seeing their competition and unfairly having hte ability to outdo those who enter early. I've seen that get ugly ^_^; so entries will come straight to me and you dont have to worry about holding out to the last minute for fear of someone seeing it and trying to beat you out.

-Contest ends on May 21st and winner will be chosen and post up
on the 22nd. No entries will be accepted after 12 midnight eastern
standard time.

Again the key to this contest will be your colors used. As it will
play a very large part in our decision on the winner
