Because of our human nature, we'll be sure to treat them as more delicate creatures than before, seeing they have some sickness. But I won't necessarily be afraid of them. Probably just more worried.

Just so everyone knows, I'm only asking this question since I have developed diabetes.

You should stop talking about your dreams, and start making them.

There is something so human in the desire to never give up, while at the same time, never giving it your all?

Re: How do you act to friends with an illness?

I have an illness/disease that cannot be cured(at least not yet) and the only way I've been treated differently is with more kindness and understanding. It can sometimes be a little vexing when the people that care about you get a little overprotective and worry when it isn't necessary but I guess I wouldn't have it any other way. Luckily with my illness it doesn't change my exterior appearance(though I've been told to look 'weak' or 'dead' at times) so it helps people forget and accept it.

I have a cousin who developed diabetes at the age of 9. It nearly killed her because it was just so unexpected. For the most we treat her like everyone else. We just keep in mind that she has to watch what she eats and test often. Especially at family get togethers and parties. It takes a little extra effort to plan for her needs but it's worth it to keep her involved.
