How to make renders

Hey guys,

As you guys probably know, I've been mucking around with Gimp. But i've been using other peoples render from other sites.

So what I wanted to know, is there are specific program to cut out pics from screen shots etc etc ( renders)? I've been using the magic wand, but it isn't the greatest cut and I think there is a way to use paths? or something? How do people get such fine cuts on their renders?

I hope that all makes sense

You dont have to use the magic wand use the Magic Eraser Tool

I use it all the time then I close up and use a pencil eraser on one to make it look nicely cut

O Gimp sorry lol didn't read that lol, Photoshop does ;/ my bad but if you ever do get Photoshop, Magic Eraser Tool = the best

Yea the magic eraser, erases all the color that you click on in a photo so you get a nice lookin photo I learned about it maybe 2 weeks ago and started to use it, left click the eraser if ya don't know where its at

, I try to make the photo look like I took the original background out then put a whole new one and kinda a dark or light feel with it depending on my mood

Eh even so I think its one of the best Photoshop tools that + blur tool, gotta love that blur took xD!

The pen tool, is the best tool hands down. you cannot get premium cuts without PS's pen tool.,

The magic eraser is just the same as the magic wand, but the wans can adjust its tolerance levels so you have a more controled selection than the erasers.

for an alternate cutting method, and im not sure the GIMP has one too. Is the POLYGONAL LASSO tool. i use this as a secondary method for my cuts (and check out my results :P ),

You will want to use the pen tool or the polygonal lasso tool, as stated before. The polyginal lasso takes a lot more patience, but it's a lot simpler than the pen tool. I learned on the polygonal, finding it to be easier and more accurate if given the time, but pen tool can speed up the process so I would suggest getting used to both.
