how to make sigs

can i use photo works to make a sig?

I've never heard of photo works...so probably no.

No one will tell me where to get better background base images and testures.
I wish someone whould tell me where to find them.
All I have are all old stuff now.

LK posted a link (shown above) that contains numorus links for the stuff you are looking for. If none of those work try the ever ready Google and Deviant Art.

sigs are to overrated(although i use one i made myself)

play around with photoshop. try out numerous tutorials and ask people for specific effects. o yeah, listen to good music.

I just downloaded GIMP and I don't know how to make a sig with it <_>. Help anybody?

You can also use Paint Shop Pro. It is easier than Photoshop. You can also use brushes to fill up your background, thats how the lazy people do it. Get the brushes from Deviantart.
