    Re: Human Nature?

Well, I suppose I don't think stupidity is part of human nature. I think it has more to deal with how a person is, just like who they are.

If a person is spontaneous and has always done things without thinking, then they are more likely to demonstrate 'stupidity' than other people.

If a person is put into a position that they feel cornered and see no other solution, desperation takes over. Therefore, an act of stupidity could ensue. (robbing a bank, etc.)

Another situation scenario is when people feel under pressure, whether it be from peers or due to responsibility. If someone feels they have to do something to impress someone else, then they could act stupidly.

However, with the three examples you listed, I believe it is more or less due to what I mentioned first - that the person who does those kind of things are that way and it isn't in EVERYONE'S nature to act the same...stupidity wise, anyway.

Ah, an intelligent post, nice. And pressure, I hadn't even considered that. Oressure can make people do anything. And I didn't mean EVERYONE, I was simply throwing out some examples of things that have happened. It happens on a massive scale, I was generalizing for a significant portion of the human population.

I look to Paris Hilton as inspiration on this subject. I am willing to bet she is incapable of saying when the Civil War was (within 50 years), changing a tire, pumping gas, or calculating a tip with the aid of a tip calculator.

Many Americans are quite moronic, most of which are the well-to-do upper class, but all around there is this sense of stupidity. Mind you, there are certainly respectable, intelligent upper class, as are lower class. What most are lacking is just general knowledge that comes second nature to those in other places. Also, a method of living in less than perfect circumstances is lacked by many, not only in America, but in other well off places as well. It is nearly a given that nations who are "pampered" in a sense, tend to forget the basics because of how easy things are for them. But when shit hits the fan, panic ensues. People fear they will die, people say all hell has broken loose, but when the dust settles, even after shit has hit the fan, others in the 3rd world still had it worse, and don't get as much attention as they should.

Yes, that is why the Hilton Hotel Corp. won't let her even sit in on a board meeting. I would know, I work for them. They think she'd ruin the hotels, and I agree with them. She certainly is a prime example. Though more og the ditzy kind of stupid. It's the hair, though I'm blond myself... that's why I'm an idiot.

I work with a smart blonde, they do exist actually. I was a bit intimidated at first but I've gotten used to pretending she's a bruenette.

    Re: Human Nature?

Befor I get to the bases of my topic I would just like to say how tired i am with human society trying to screw us and the world over. Main topic. you all know what we see on the news right? Death, rape, terrosists have bombed another place (all admitidly bad) but notice that all we see on the news. The media is very selective on what we see, ie Death, rape, terrosists have bombed another place. We see no good news. Media news does this to keep us in a state of fear which is probably encouraged by the government ( hate them I hate them I hate them) not being biased or anything and to keep us looking at them for help. Humans seem to get off seeing mayhem and destruction everywhere we look. Humanity is continuouslly building bigger and stronger weapons (which they are to protect each other) but in actual fact are mostly likly sitting around for some trigger happy yahoo to hit the button at any sign of danger . I'm pretty sure i'v branched off topic here but I feel better now. This is a great topic. Well played Zarriff
