have you ever bothered trying to find support from microsoft?

they do have something written about it here

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810903

all that knowledge is dandy and all, but it seems more like guess work filled with unnecessary jargon spewing all over the place. i can't guarantee that whatever ms posted will work but at least it's free.

    Microsoft Knowledge Base
Your computer supports the Advanced Power Management (APM) feature, but the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACP)-compliant basic input/output system (BIOS) is not configured correctly to permit the operating system to turn off the power supply.
That's what I said :O Check your BIOS for the power settings on your computer Boy does the MCP training come in handy in these situations
