I think Ichi The Killer is a great film.
But then again, I'm not what most people call "healthy minded".
It's a good splatter film and you need to have a special sense of humour to enjoy Miike's work.

Typical Japenese director to much blood and it is just to much of everything story line boring characters need lessons and the wannabee horror is just disgusting.

Are you saying those traits are typical for a Japanese director?

I started watching this movie but really couldn't get into it.

But I am a fan of Japanese films and they all aren't "wannabe horror" films. If they are, why do American's think enough of them to make they're own versions like the Ring?

American horror flicks is infested with cheese, romance, and sex
the scariest parts for me is when the piano music starts playing and the two leads start their little love scene
god, that's ****ing annoying
not to sound gay or anything, but I'm just sick of the boobage and the softcore porn in horror and splatter movies
I'm not really complaining. I love boobs as much as the next guy, but...
what the hell is with the T&A factor in movies anyway?
my money spent to watch a movie, expecting some nice gore and enjoyment from seeing other people's demise
and they stick a love scene and random nudity
ah, the 80s were some of the most goriest, but honestly, there was too much boobs
if I wanted to see boobs and people ****ing, I'd rent a porno or something
but no, I want to see dismemberment and fountains of blood
the Japanese on the other hand... (rant... over...)
...they focus on the gore and the blood, and my bloodlust is satisfied and I can walk out of that theater (or my living room) sane and happy that I've watched some quality gore
the writing and the acting aren't that bad either
then again, it's in Japanese so I'm too busy reading the subtitles and watching the gory parts to notice any bad acting (nor do I even care)
strangely, foreign horror flicks (Italian, Japanese, Chinese) are usually much more "scarier" and gorier than American movies
sure we have the technology, but we lack the imagination and the ingenuity to figure out new clever ways to kill a person
ha, I once saw a really old horror movie where this girl gets stabbed in the eye and she dies
WTF!?
heh... ah, movies like "Ichi the Killer", "Audition" and "Versus", and anime like "Elfen Lied" and "Berzerk" make me all happy inside...

I couldn't get past the rapage at the beginning. Maybe I should finish it sometime.
