i would hate that.
this might come across as surprising to some, or strange, or funny or... ok, moving on. in geography today, my teacher was talking about urban consolidation, etc. and she happened to tell us a bit about japan as well. here's what she said.
in countries such as america, australia, etc (countries with vast land), the children's inheritance usually consists of money, valuables, etc. but in japan... guess what the children inherit?
loans.
no, you didn't read it wrong. they inherit loans. house loans. you probably already know why. it's because the houses in japan are so expensive... most usually don't pay it off in their lifetime. so what happens to the loan? the children inherit it. just imagine your inheritance... to pay off a loan.
i would hate that.

In Japan the land is too small and occupied now these days so they charge more
more for acres or land.

"I let all that kind of blood away" Thanks Viper
I would have to agree with alison on that. I would hate to be the person getting the loan...that sucks.Originally Posted by alison_faith

but who would live in the house? would all of them pay if only one is living there?
hmmm... i think this is a question only the Japanese among us can answer!!!
*shrugs*
Allowance, no allowance, or loans.
Before I had an allowance, I either begged for a present, or I made my own toys out of trash, or just dream.
When I got an "allowance" (it's more of a percentage of the company) ... I spent, saved, and invested.
If it's a loan, then I'll pay it off... it won't be easy, but I will.
I adjust to methods. ^_^ Whatever it is, it is. And I'll deal with it.
Because... hey, our parents have lives too, y'know.
i agree...hope that 1 japanese can explain more..Originally Posted by Abu Dhabi

i guess they'd have to come to an agreement. and also, because the population of japan is so large, couples now-a-days usually have no more than 2 children. so it's not that complicated. in fact, i think most only have 1 child...
