This is a FALSE STATEMENT!. As bad as the atomic bomb attacks on Japan in WWII, and the open air atomic bomb tests done by the US and USSR during the 50s and 60s, they did show that the use of nuclear weapons is survivable. The fact that both Hiroshima and Nagasaki are thriving cities today continues to prove that point...
This is true. But that doesn't mean that using such a devastating weapon upon other human beings is justified. EVER. People did survive Hiroshima and Nagasaki ... And the cities are thriving, indeed. But don't forget the people that suffered from the after effects of heavy nuclear poisoning. Many people who survived the initial blasts suffered for weeks of excrutiating pain, heavy vomiting, severe burns, and eventually died. Thousands of others delveoped cancer, and severe deformations.

And anyway, those tests you mentioned were done in the 50's and 60's. Think of the nuclear power we have today, and the types of weapons that have been developed. Or do we even know the extent of power that a nuclear weapon has?

From declassified DOD records, we know that the largest H-bomb was the 20 Megaton City buster that only the B-36 Peacemaker could carry. The largest bomb that the Soviet Union TESTED was a 50 Megaton bomb (but with a inert Lead casing, which they found from air samples taken from the blast cloud. With the working Uranium casing, the expected yield would be around 100 Megatons, but it is not known if this weapon was ever put into service...)

The modern trend of modern US strategic weapons are in the range of 200 Kilotons yield, (modern ICBMs are much more accurate, so they can get away with a much smaller 'boom' to destroy their intended target) with the smaller tactical warheads in the 10 Kiloton to 0.5 Kiloton range. Modern non-nuclear Fuel Air Explosives actually overlap the explosive yield of the smaller tactical nukes. In comparison, the weapon yields of the bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki were estimated to be in the 18-20 Kiloton range

Also keep in mind that the amount of radioactive material released by the Chernobyl Nuclear Powerplant disaster was order's of magnitude greater then what a thermonuclear weapon would release. The accident in the Ukraine has resulted in higher rates of cancer and birth defects, but not anything close to depopulating the countryside...

The fishing boat called the LuckyDragon was effected by it and caught radioctive fish that was contamated by strodium 90 and has the same same effect as calsium

The Lucky Dragon incident occured during the experimental testing of the first Thermonuclear explosion (which was basiclly an atomic bomb suspended in a large tank of liquid hydrogen). The resulting explosion turned out to be much larger then what was expected. As a result the 'exculusion zone' for the test wasn't large enough, resulting in the Fishing Boat getting caught by the fallout. Even then, if the fishing crew knew what to do, (and they didn't, as no one knew at the time...) they could have survivied. I've read Civil Defence instructions that claimed that one of the safe refuges in a Nuclear War is a boat over water 30 fathoms deep. That's enough water to block the fallout radioactivity. The only thing that's needs to be done is to sweep the decks regularly to prevent the buildup of radioacitve fallout on the boat.

Remember, that was back in the 'Ignorance is Bliss' days where Nuclear Power promised electricity soo inexpensive that they can do away with the power meters. The effects of radioactive fallout was a little understood mystery, that was not understood by both the military and the civilian goverment. Goverments are a little more careful now, and the fact that the majority of radiation poisoning deaths caused by the Chernobyl incident was limited to on-site workers, and the emergency response teams that tried to bring the burning reactor under control... (And your badly misspelling your radioactive isotopes. That strontium 90 that is chemically simular to calcium. The other dangerous isotope are radioactive cesium, which if I remember correctly is chemically simular to iodine, and will concentrate in the thyroid gland...)

you mean radioiodine is aborbed in the thyriod glands, causing thyroid cancer.
Strondium 90 is aborbed in to the bones causing bone cancer , due continous bombardment gamma radation, anyway the middle east should never have nuclear armment, there alreaddy so much concern about natural disasters and terrorist making small dirty bombs from radioisotopes from old medical cancer treatment machines,

Iran would most likely nuke Isreal if it did have nuclear weapons. But not so much to 'retake' the land but more to prove it has powers like USA.
