The English version of the original Record of Lodoss War OVA opening isn't too bad. The only other english versions of anime songs I've heard are the English versions of Lacus Clyne's two songs from Gundam SEED. They are painful to listen to, as it seems Lacus' English voice actress did them and she sings off key quite a bit. And, her singing voice sounds about fifteen years older than the voice she uses normally for the character. Lacus' japanese actress, Rie Tanaka, is quite the singer though. It always amazes me how the Japanese voice actors do a lot of songs for character CD's and such. The women usually do a really good job with it to. As far as voice actress/singers I like Maaya Sakamoto the best.

I don't like English remakes of Japanese songs. I've heard a few, Inu Yasha, Magic Knight Rayearth,
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, Captor Captor Sakura. They just don't sound right at all... especially if you have a scene where the character is singing and the mouth movements totally don't match at all. It looks weird.

But I don't might English anime songs. Where the Japanese artist sings in English.
Not many can do it well, by Maaya Sakamoto is quite good singing in English. Vector from Vision of Escaflowne is one of my favourite songs. Plus alot of Yoko Kanno's music (especially for Cowboy Bebop, GITS SAC and Wolf's Rain) is sung in English. I really like Steve Conte as well.

Hmmm....interesting question. Usually I don't mind at all whether the anime/game theme song is in Japanese or English. Save for one time though, I had aquired a copy of the Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles ost quite some time before the games release, and i got so used to the theme song being in Japanese that when the game was actually released i felt kinda akward listening to it in English. But other than that it doesn't normally bother me.

I like Japaneese versions better than english... but if they are bi-lingual like a lot, they are the bomb.

But no matter what, there's always a horrible song no matter what language it is in... But not knowing the lame words to a song, but listenting to the pure lyrics makes it better.

JAPANESE PLEASE! Well, I guess that the original producers are japanese so they probably picked the japanese vocals and song to compromise the anime? So in English probably it'll sound pretty off.

somethings it's the fact that you have listened to the japanese version first thus it's sticks to your brain better

'Cause you give me something / That makes me scared, alright / This could be nothing / But I'm willing to give it a try / Please give me something
'Cause someday I might call you from my heart

Another thing is that because they have to translate the Japanese song into English, doesn't that screw up the rhythm and rhyme of the song?
