You should include MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) in that poll, since LAN+RPG is the pwnage

Tried World of War Craft, DiabloI/II, Final Fantasy XI... :O

There is something flawed in the options to this poll:

    Online
    PC
    LAN
    Platform
    RPG
    1st Person
    Race/Competition

I mean, you can play 1st Person Shooter games via one of the following methods:

    a. online/internet (TCP/IP)
    b. LAN/WAN
    c. Direct-Connect (via Serial/Parellel Port), although rare nowadays
    d. Hot-seating
    e. Two-players on one unit (only available in consoles/platforms and some PC games)

then you can ALSO play RPG games via one of the following methods:

    a. online/internet (TCP/IP) (MMORPGs fall in this category)
    b. LAN/WAN (we do this with Neverwinter Nights, and the rest of the Bioware series)
    c. Direct-Connect (via Serial/Parellel Port), although rare nowadays
    d. Hot-seating

and you can ALSO play Racing/Driving games via one of the following methods:

    a. online/internet (TCP/IP) (NFSU/NFSU2 falls here)
    b. LAN/WAN (lots of racing games but we use this for our NASCAR games)
    c. Direct-Connect (great for 1vs1 drag-racing)
    d. Hot-seating (esp. for "Rally" type competitions)

So if you can see, from my chair, it's very difficult to answer this poll.

While trying to come up with this chart/table/matrix showing all the different computer gaming "genres" and mapping them against a platform or "means of playing" column, I realized there was one type of game that I highly doubt if there will be a multiplayer version of...

...I mean can you imagine a multiplayer version of something like "Nocturnal Illusions?" Man, that would be highly embarrassing/hilarious I think, but maybe in a way, fun in itself, provided that the guy/gal you were playing it with err is also interested in such games

I'd have to go with the LAN. For one thing the RPG will be there all the time and u can sit down and play it after the LAN, also LAN's are planed out n' such and only happen every few weeks or so. Besides i'd rather socialize. Id go to the LAN espiecially if its Halo 2. Don't get me wrong RPG's are my favorite genre and i'd still play the 30+ hours straight.

Online. Even RPG single player only gets boring if u just keep beating it.

    I voted for LAN.

My friend had a little LAN at his place for 2 weeks, we were 5 buddies playing World of Warcraft when it came out.

As for RPGs, I used to be a big fan, but my view on single player games changed when I was introduced to MMORPG back when Everquest came out.
