    Manga: Left or Right

Which do you prefer reading mangas. I have the Love Hina collection and I read these the traditional way from right to left. I however have some Ranma 1/2 which is done by Viz and I have to read them from left to right and was wondering what do people prefer?

    Re: Manga: Left or Right

I prefer the orginal Japanese way, and I'm pretty sure that's the view of most manga readers and collecters, since after all... VIZ have re-released 2nd editions, (with original right to left version) of quite a few of their older titles (Ayashi no Ceres, Evangelion, Fushigi Yuugi etc etc)

The only series I've got in left to right is X, because for some weird reason, while VIZ have redone all their titles right to left, they still haven't done it with X.

Well, I like the original format better, it's easier for me to read, and the original images are preserved.

    Grumble Grumble Grumble

Mangas are drawn to be read from right to left because Japanese books of written text are read from right to left. When publishers convert a manga to left to right format, instead of tranposing the individual graphic images, what they often do is simply mirror image 'flip' the page. This can cause problems, such as making a right handed character left handed, etc...

    Re: Manga: Left or Right

I just simply like the feel of reading something differently. It gives some sort of culture hidden inside a tiny image book that makes it feel fun to read even more in a way. People that don't know what a manga is or haven't read any then try to read and get confused on the way of reading it till I tell then, the way they react, priceless XD

And tis true that strange things can come from mirroring....maybe you'll create your double like in CCS and then well....I'm going in the wrong way....just woke up.......it would be fun to mirror my breakfast thought XD
