Good theory..I got a little confused when I saw the ending..I was all like wait they're dead what happend?
since the other thread was closed
here...
me and my friends have a theory about the ending
it's pretty simple and it makes the most sense
the last two minutes or so of Rain showed Kiba in a busy district
Toboe, Tsume and Hige are showed leading happy lives
Toboe's back with his "owner" and Hige and Tsume are just doing whatever
but here's the truth about the ending:
.....everyone's actually dead
I too thought they were all reborn
but the scene seemed too surreal to be reality
odd comparison, but it reminded me of the Matrix
(Kiba is walking through a district filled with people
nobody notices him except for the other wolves
and then he starts running for no apparent reason)
anyway, this is the afterlife, this is paradise....for Kiba
as you probably know, most of Kiba's friends were killed by Darcia in the end
Toboe and Quent (the old man) were shot and killed
Blue and Hige died together
the cop fell off a cliff
...I forgot what happened to the doctor...
and Tsume was killed in a fight against Darcia
---fast forward through the epic battle between Kiba and Darcia---
Darcia dies and Kiba is dying
Cheza completes her transformation into a tree and blossoms, turning the world from a frozen wasteland to a healthy green planet
Kiba wanders off after that
and after trying to survive, he breaks through the ice and he freezes to death
there, he finds paradise
'paradise' had multiple meanings in Wolf's Rain
a world of peace and a world of life
there's no greater peace than death
and the world was given a fresh start thanks to Cheza
even though Darcia's wolf eye still remains, poisoning it little by little
in a way, it symbolizes evil
and it leaves room for another series
so...
> everyone in the series is dead
> Kiba and the wolves finally find peace
> the planet is reborn
> Darcia's eye is slowly spreading its evil
> Cheza is a tree
got that? does that make any sense?
if you have any comments or any contadictions to the theory, go ahead

A deathless heart alive with greif
Smiles when it hears of thee
Whisper now my secret love
Kiss my lips and rise above
I'm glad you liked it

how do you account for the Flower of the Moon growing in the alley? what is the significance behind it's almost hidden existance in this world if this is Kiba's Paradise? and what about the more advanced technology (Tsume on a bike) and not so apocalyptic setting - Kiba would have never have known - or thought of - this sort of reality.
Though I agree their death is the most plausible account for the ending, I do wonder if it isn't just another rebirth, another chance.
If you've seen the origional subbed version (my first witness to the series was through Adult Swim, which I fell in love with it, but then I downloaded the series and witnessed more than what CN showed) they give the tale of Darcia I's entrance into Paradise. Then the second generation Darcia tells of how the planet has been reborn over and over again. So couldn't it possibly be a resurrection?
Also, if this is only Kiba's Paradise, how does that account for Hamona's Paradise Sickness and Darcia's eye?
These are only my ponderings. Feel free to chew it apart (no pun intended.)

I only caught a couple episodes

oh wow, I thought about it, because I love Wolf's Rain, and have seen every episode, following the story. I never got the alternate reality, ( like Tsume on the bike, Toboe wearing the hat, with the kitten ?) and I never knew what that was about, but I thought of it, as the other chance, to find Paradise, or maybe the beginning of it all ? I dunno, it feels too complicated ...ouch.
much love to socketto...what of this mongrel architect, our broken armor soon will set, past, present, and future tense...
