Michigan Court Declares Talking Penis to be Indecent

Michigan court says talking penis on TV is indecent

DETROIT (Reuters) - A Michigan court apparently has ended the television career of a talking penis.

A three-judge panel of the Michigan Court of Appeals declared that the talking penis, nicknamed Dick Smart, telling "purportedly humorous" jokes on a Grand Rapids, Michigan, public access cable television channel constituted indecent exposure.

The court let stand a one-day jail sentence already served by the show's creator, Timothy Huffman.

Wednesday's ruling contained a transcript of the three-minute segment that aired twice in 2000, including the voice-over lines delivered in the style of the late comedian Rodney Dangerfield: "Hi, I'm Dick Smart. I am a comedian, yeah, stand up, ha."

Huffman could not immediately be reached for comment but he told the Detroit Free Press newspaper he planned to appeal in defence of his right to freedom of speech.

It appears that the Singing Vagina's radio show is safe for now. ;)


So what do you think? Does the talking penis have a chance of winning the appeal? Is comedy done by male genitalia protected by the Constitution or do federal and state television decency standards apply here?

Honestly i think its really funny and at the same time really retarded in some way or another. Yet something tells me that he probly wont be on for a very long time, maybe not even ever again =P....i think its wierd how he was actually able to be given the privilage to air that type of show :nono: ...sometimes i think this world is getting stupider :lurk:

The man's name is Timothy Huffman. The penis is named Dick Smart. It would make an interesting case as long as "Dick Smart" doesn't end up testifying.
