Well deserved I believe, and it just futher cements animes place in the world of comptempary cinema. Congrats to Miyazaki. This year's Venice International Film Festival saw Japanese film director Hayao Miyazaki awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, the first time this award was presented to a director of animated films. The award was presented to the director on Friday 9th September 2005 during the course of "Miyazaki Day", which saw the screenings of three of his films that were relatively unknown in Italy and Europe. In announcing the award declared:
"Miyazaki's energy combines romanticism and humanism with an epic take on story-telling, a touch of visionary fantasy which leaves one open-mouthed. The sense of wonder his films conveys awakens the child who sleeps within each of us." - Marco Mueller, Venice Film Festival director, presenting the award*

Talk about a Golden Lion.. Yes he does deserve it. I admire his works alot. I really do... Now I'll admire him more thinking he was the first director of animated films who got this award.
It's good that the world recognizes great works of art whether they be paintings or films. Miyazaki has been an inspiration to so many, he deserved this award.
As it has been stated, he deserved it! .^_^. Now the world will be more open to anime, or at least will be more interested when one of the greatest recieved the Golden Lion. I wonder if he realizes how he's brought everyone to the next step .^_^.
Nice... it was an award fitted for a master, and a master Miyasaki is.
I can't believe how long it took for him to finally be Awarded. Well, it was well deserved.. how praiseworthy!
