January 11, 2005 - Model-turned-actress Natassia Malthe, who can be seen in theaters on Friday as Elektra baddie Typhoid Mary, has been cast in the game-to-film adaptation of DOA: Dead or Alive – that's according to the Production Weekly website.
The film, at last report, was budgeted at around $30 million and is expected to be rated PG-13. The story reportedly follows four voluptuous girls who are invited by to participate in the "Dead or Alive" world fighting tournament on an exotic island. And, yes, there will apparently be beach volleyball scenes (a la DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball).
Corey Yuen (The Transporter) is attached to direct the film. The script was penned by J.F. Lawton (Under Siege, Chain Reaction).
Production Weekly adds that the film is slated to start shooting this spring in China.
