Did you adjust the screen settings on the monitor itself? Most monitors come with adjustments for vertical size, horizontal size, contrast, etc.
That what I tried to do but it just come out weird looking

Have you tried going to the Viewsonic's website and download the monitor hardware definition file for that model. And after you downloaded and install (add new hardware) the monitor, and it still doesn't work, chances are you have a defective monitor, and it's time to take it back to the store for an exchange....
