Apparently he's a cardinal from Germany, and he was chose just about an hour or two ago...

Clan orders: Wear the signature of defeat with pride.
Benedictus the 16th we salute you!
Well not really because I'm not Catholic but anyway.
Ratzinger is expected to just continue the path JP II was taking.
Very conservative and even less open to other religions.
They also needed only 5 voting rounds this time, on of the fastest elections of our modern times...

Just 58 (very young), but he ruled alot longer than most (25 years).Originally Posted by pyoro-pyoro

They didn't even want a long ruling pope this time so the younger ones had no chance of being chosen anyway.
He seem like an ok guy. I wonder why he was chosen?
and we know for a fact that with those scandals from america that none of the cardinals (one or more? i donno how this works) from american would be chosen

From a German news source
Joseph Ratzinger Is Selected to Lead Catholic Church
The next year should be interesting.
Personally I find it interesting that they choose someone so closely associated with Pope John Paul II, it could show a real commitment to his causes.
